Keeping you connected to the life and ministry of
Concord Presbyterian Church!

Sister Barbara Jean Brown preaching

Hospitality is at the heart of God’s life, and it is one of the major characteristics of those created in God’s image... that is us!  Join us this Sunday as we welcome Sister BJ Brown, retired director of the Interfaith Resource Center and frequent leader of our adult education classes, to our pulpit to explore just what hospitality means in in today's world.

Concord is blessed to have a wonderful music program that enhances our worship experience. Most of this is provided by our Chancel Choir, Youth Choir, member instrumentalists, and organist/accompanist Jeff DeVault, all under the leadership of Minister of Music Matthew Pressley. However, we also benefit from the strategic use of professional musicians. The brass at Easter, the contemporary ensemble for Gospel Sunday, Barbara Prugh’s contribution to our Veterans Day service, and our summer guest musicians are all examples. Support for these additional musicians that enhance our worship life comes from the Music & Arts Fund. (The Concord Concert Fund is used exclusively for the Concert Series.) If we want to continue to experience these enhancements to our worship, the Music & Arts Fund needs replenishment. Please join me in making a contribution to keep this ministry vibrant.

From Farewell Celebration for Pastor Elizabeth Lyman - Sunday, July 14

To my Concord Family,
Words cannot express how deeply I was moved by your gracious goodbye at last Sunday's service. All of it will stay close in my heart. Whenever I wear the stole, I will think of Concord and its beautiful people.

In Christ,
Elizabeth

Our outstanding Chancel Choir sings regularly in Sunday services September - May. During the summer, they receive a well-deserved respite. We traditionally use this time to foster our own talented musicians with solo and small ensemble opportunities, while also welcoming some highly accomplished professional and aspiring young guest artists. It is our hope and belief that this enhances our ministry and worship experience. The Chancel Choir will resume weekly rehearsals and their regular role as worship music leaders in early September. Until then, enjoy our featured artists!

Epiphany House
Service Opportunity!

Epiphany House is a transitional housing program run by Friendship House. The program provides a secure, supportive, & home-like environment for women ready to work hard on their issues through a rigorous & holistic program. The goal is to help the women re-establish themselves as independent, self-supporting members of our society able to assume their responsibilities to their families, co-workers, & friends.
Concord members Judy Hayes & Torill Drury have made & shared meals with Epiphany House residents on the 4th Friday of each month for a number of years. Judy & Torill have now stepped down & we are hopeful there will be someone in the congregation who will feel called to step up & continue this outreach. This can be as simple as picking up pizzas to share when time is short! If you are interested in this activity, please contact Dottie Harding.

Starr Carter is constantly switching between two worlds - the poor, mostly black neighborhood where she lives and the wealthy, mostly white prep school that she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is soon shattered when she witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend at the hands of a police officer. Facing pressure from all sides of the community, Starr must find her voice and decide to stand up for what's right.
