Worship Service with Imposition of Ashes
February 26
 - 9:30am & 7:00pm
in the Sanctuary

On Ash Wednesday we enter the Christian season of Lent, a time of remembering, a time of repenting, a time of renewal and recommitment. We will spend the coming weeks journeying with Jesus toward the cross; toward the dying that ultimately brings resurrection life. This day, we come together to mark the beginning of this Lenten journey, to acknowledge our sin, to acknowledge our mortality, to encounter the Christ who offers forgiveness and everlasting life.

Lent 1 - Gospel Music Sunday, Communion
Sunday, March 1
- 10:30am
Pastor Steve Clark preaching
Gospel Music Sunday - Join us as we fill Sunday worship with the uplifting, energizing sounds of gospel music. With professional contemporary ensemble, a well-rehearsed choir, soloists, and lots of congregational participation, it will be a very stirring day.

For Sunday, read Matthew 4:1-11. Reflect:
Jesus is led by the Spirit into the wilderness right after his baptism, where God’s voice from heaven identifies him as “my Son, the Beloved.” Why do you think God would immediately send Jesus to this temptation encounter? How would you describe the temptations he faces? Are they similar in any way to temptations we face in our lives? If so, what lessons do Jesus’ responses give us for our own experience?

Soup/Chili Cook-Off & Chocolate Challenge
Sunday, March 1 - following Gospel Sunday worship
Fellowship Hall

Enjoy a delicious hot lunch and decadent desserts – all while supporting
the youth attending Massanetta Springs’ Middle School Youth Conference!

Want to just dine? Simply show up and contribute $1/sample of chili, soup, or a chocolate dessert!

Ready to compete for the coveted crown? Fill out an entry form for either the Cook-Off or Challenge and return it to Christina Pressley, along with your $5.00 entry fee, by Wed., February 26.  (Forms are available in the back of the Sanctuary or outside the Church Office.)

Blanket Sunday Offering
will be received Sunday, March 8
during the Children's Sermon

You can help to “Blanket the World with Love” and provide blankets to people in need in this country and around the globe. Every year, Church World Service gives away many blankets, and they need your help to make this possible. For only $10, you can immediately provide a blanket for someone in need and help bring them warmth, shelter, and security. Concord has a long history of contributing to this cause and, with so many refugees around the world today, it is more vital than ever. Please give generously. Your support truly makes a difference in the lives of children and families the world over.

Envelopes are available in the pews (make checks payable to Concord Church, memo: Blankets). Please bring your Blanket Offering to worship next Sunday, March 8, when we will collect it during the Children's Sermon.
