The Problem of Pain
February 9
, 2020 - 10:30am
Pastor Steve Clark preaching
For this Sunday, read Mark 5:21-34 and Psalm 42. For reflection: In the scene from Mark, important cultural norms of the time would prohibit the woman from even being in the crowd that day. Imagine the desperation she must have felt, and the courage she summoned, to do what she did. Have you ever been in such a place of desperation or discouragement in your life? Where do you turn, what do you do, in such times? The writer of Psalm 42 expresses, in a single psalm, feelings of both despair and hope. Have you ever experienced that mix of feelings? Is there anything in these verses that you find helpful or encouraging for your own life?
