Concord Presbyterian Church!

Sunday Worship - September 6, 2020
Rev. Dr. Tracy Keenan, guest preacher

For this Sunday, our guest preacher is the Rev. Dr. Tracy Keenan, Missional Presbyter of our New Castle Presbytery. For her sermon, "A Word to Your Angel," Tracy is reading selected verses from the New Testament book of Revelation, chapters 1 through 3. Reading those chapters ahead of time will give important context for the sermon.

TO JOIN US in worship this Sunday, September 6, CLICK ON THE PICTURE above to go to our Concord website. Near the bottom of the home page, click on the graphic that reads "Welcome to worship at Concord Presbyterian - September 6, 2020" to connect with the worship video. The worship video will be accessible after 9:00am each Sunday morning.

Reminder: Deacons' Fund Offering

As part of its ministry, Concord provides financial aid to members of our community who are in distress arising from sickness, job loss, a fire, or other acute circumstances, with a maximum of $200 per individual. Our monthly contribution to Friendship House, which administers the Deacons’ Fund, is now $1,000. Friendship House works with the clients referred to understand their needs and develop a plan to address them, utilizing Concord’s Deacons’ Fund and other resources to help. Most assistance is to pay overdue utility bills and rent, with an emphasis on preventing eviction and possible homelessness.
We receive the offering for the Deacons’ Fund on the first Sunday of each month. Even though we are now holding a “virtual” worship service, the needs are all too real. Please prayerfully consider a contribution to the Fund. Checks should be payable to Concord Church (memo: Deacons’ Fund) and mailed to the office. Contributions can also be made through our website (click here) or using Zelle. If you give electronically, please send an email to ron.mckinney@concordpc.org to let him know the donation is for the Deacons’ Fund.

We also need volunteers to help with set up and clean up. If you are willing to arrive 30 minutes early or stick around for a bit after the picnic to assist, please contact Nancy Tucker – ntuckerde@gmail.com.

Donations for Hanover Food Pantry - Sunday, September 13
"I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you welcomed me. . ." (Matthew 25:35)

How can I help? In this unsettled time, we’re all very aware of what we aren’t able to do. We also know there’s a lot of need in our community and world. So many of us are asking,

Here’s one answer: Concord’s Mission Committee will be collecting canned goods and staples for Hanover Food Pantry at our Homecoming Tailgate on Sept.13. Please bring along non-perishable food donations and place in one of the designated containers.

Email and text "scamming" seems to be on the rise yet again, and religious organizations are not immune. The Church Office has received several reports of texts and emails purporting to be from Pastor Steve Clark that he did not send.
If you receive a questionable communication, take the time to look at it carefully. In the case of an email, check the originating email address and in the case of texts, the cell number, to determine that it is actually from a church staff member.

Please exercise caution and, if in doubt, contact the Church Office
(302/654-9652, info@concordpc.org) before you act.
