Keeping you connected to the life and ministry of
Concord Presbyterian Church!

Sunday, November 15
Pastor Steve Clark preaching

For this Sunday, READ Matthew 25:14-30  and REFLECT: If you are already familiar with  this parable Jesus tells, how have you understood it? It has often been interpreted as a challenge to use the gifts ("talents") we have to serve God faithfully, recognizing that each of us has different gifts and abilities. HOWEVER, since "talent" in the time of Jesus referred to an amount of money, and each of the three servants received a different amount "according to his ability," what else do you think the talents could represent? What are your thoughts or feelings about how the master deals with the third servant (vs. 26-30)? If Jesus is using this parable to teach a lesson about the rule of God ("kingdom of heaven" in Matthew), what lesson do you hear in this story?

Concord in the Fall

Please send us a photo of you (and/or your family) with something that you really enjoy about the fall  - a tree in full color, nice fall decorations, making soup or other comfort food, or whatever strikes your fancy. We'll share this with our Concord family. If will be so good to 'see' you in this way.

What better way to celebrate the fall than to welcome a new grandson!
(Pastor Steve & Jennie Clark's grandson Rex, born October 26.)

Concord Preschool students and teachers found the perfect way to celebrate fall -
with a hayride through the park!

Isabel and Ella took advantage of the warm fall weather to visit the Wilmington Riverfront
and experience some of the post-election excitement!

Prayers of happiness for Priscilla Swanson, celebrating her 98th birthday next week. Cards are welcome!
Prayers of relief and continued recovery for Phil Lind, coming home from rehab this Friday. One leg has healed and Carol has been trained to wrap the other. Home health nurses will also stop by.
Cynthia & Jim Miller had the joy of celebrating their daughter Lauren's and granddaughter's birthdays at a special family dinner.
Joyce Johnson is also rejoicing in a visit from her son Mark (Maine) and granddaughter Lucy (Oregon).
Continued prayers of protection for retirement home residents as Covid cases continue to climb in the area - both Cokesbury and Country House have cases among staff and healthcare/assisted living residents. Grant healing to the sick, and strength and skill to those who care for them.
Prayers of protection for our military on this Veterans Day; give them courage in  the face of peril and an abiding sense of your presence wherever they may be.

Prayers of guidance for our country's leaders in this unsettled time following our election. Grant them wisdom to make the right decisions and lead them on the path towards truth and justice.
***
A Diaspora Prayer Group prays on Mondays at 9:00am for those on the church prayer list (of which this is just a part). If you would like to add names/needs to this list and this ministry of prayer, click here: info@concordpc.org.
