Keeping you connected to the life and ministry of

Concord Presbyterian Church!

Second Sunday of Easter
April 11
Pastor Steve Clark preaching
One Great Hour of Sharing

For this Sunday, READ Luke 24:13-35 and REFLECT: Imagine yourself walking with the two disciples and listening to them "discussing these things" (verse 15). What do you hear them saying? What feelings do you sense in their voices or body language as they walk? In verse 19 the disciples refer to Jesus as "a prophet," in verse 21 they speak of their now-shattered hope that Jesus "would redeem Israel." How do you understand these two descriptions of Jesus? How do they resonate with, or conflict with, your own understanding of Jesus? The disciples finally recognized Jesus when "he took the bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them." When/where/how have you recognized Jesus' presence in your life?

Easter Flowers
The plants/bulbs that decorated Concord's chancel during the Easter service are looking for a home. If you are interested, please stop by the church and pick up a pot from the front steps of the Sanctuary. (Available now; first come, first served.) Plant them in your garden, deliver them to a friend... They serve as a silent reminder of God's love and healing power.

Trinity White Plume just turned 13. Like the gardens she has newly learned to plant and tend, she is growing in extraordinary ways. Where Trinity lives on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota — roughly the size of the state of Connecticut — there is but one grocery store. Moreover, Oglala Lakota County, where the reservation is located, has the lowest per capita income in the country and consistently ranks as the poorest county in the nation.

During the pandemic, what was already a food desert has become even more so, heightening the challenge of food accessibility for Trinity’s family and all the families living in Pine Ridge. Thanks to gifts from One Great Hour of Sharing, the garden projects of Owe Aku are making a difference.

The three programs supported by One Great Hour of Sharing - Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, the Presbyterian Hunger Program, and Self-Development of People - all work in different ways to serve individuals and communities in need. You can join in restoring hope, feeding the hungry, and empowering the oppressed through your contribution to One Great House of Sharing during April

Checks can be made payable to Concord, memo: OGHS.
Donations can also be made online through Concord's website.

WORSHIP UPDATE
At our meeting this week, Session approved returning to in-person worship beginning May 23, Pentecost Sunday. Worshipers will be required to follow safety protocols which at a minimum will observe state mandates and guidelines, and CDC guidelines. These will include mask-wearing and social distancing; details for all protocols are still being worked out and will be communicated as we get closer to May 23. That service, and all that follow, will be livestreamed so they can be joined online as they're happening and recorded so they can be watched at any later time or day.
TAKE NOTE: The worship staff and livestreaming team are planning to begin actual live "broadcast" of worship from the sanctuary beginning May 9, without worshipers present in the sanctuary. That means services on the 9th and 16th will be available online each of those Sundays beginning at 10:30am, when they are actually taking place at Concord. As with all livestreamed services, each service will also be recorded and can be accessed at any later time/day.
Information on how to access live-streamed recordings will be provided in the next few weeks.
