Day of Pentecost
May 23 - 10:00am (note earlier time)

Pastor Steve Clark preaching

For this Sunday, READ Acts 2:1-21 and REFLECT: As you read this story, what details stand out for you? If you've read it before (maybe many times), are there details you hadn't noticed before or that you forgot? How do those details affect your understanding of the story? Imagine yourself in the crowd, one of the "devout Jews from every nation under heaven" (v5); what message are you hearing from Peter's words in verses 14-21? What message is there for you today or for us as a congregation in this place and time?
TO JOIN US in worship online this Sunday, May 23, CLICK ON THE PICTURE above to go to our Concord website. Near the bottom of the home page, click on the same picture to connect with the worship video. The worship service will be available LIVE AT 10:00AM Sunday morning or later in the day to view at your convenience.

CONCORD’S RETURN TO IN-PERSON WORSHIP
THIS SUNDAY @ 10:00AM

(Doors open at 9:40am)

After more than fourteen months of worshipping at a distance, connected only electronically via the internet, our Concord family will resume in-person worship this Sunday, May 23 at 10:00am. Some of us are no doubt more than ready to resume worshiping together in our sanctuary, and some of us, for a variety of reasons, are not yet ready or able to attend in person. Recognizing that the threat of the virus is still present, Session has worked to develop protocols and procedures that will provide the safest environment we can for all who gather in the sanctuary to worship. Please read and follow these procedures if you plan to join us in person this Sunday.
IMPORTANT WORSHIP UPDATES: (1) The recent announcement from the CDC about masking guidelines is great news, confirming that the vaccines are working as well, or even better, than hoped. HOWEVER, as we continue to do our Concord best to care for one another in this time, MASKS will be required to be worn by all who attend worship with us in the sanctuary. (2) Session agreed to amend the initial protocols announced last week, to remove the requirement for temperatures being taken as people arrive for worship. (3) So that children may have the opportunity to better see Christina as she presents the Children's Sermon, families with children may request to be seated in a section of reserved pews at the front of sanctuary.

We will continue to provide an opportunity to worship on-line using our livestreaming equipment. You can participate in the livestream at our new worship hour of 10:00am or view the recording later that day or at a future date.
These protocols and procedures will be updated as guidance from the CDC and the state are revised. We all look forward to the day when COVID protocols are no longer needed. We also encourage all in our Concord family to get vaccinated when you are eligible. Contact your medical provider if you are unsure about whether to do so.

Saturday, June 5, 2021 ~ 10:00am
Concord Church parking lot

Concord Presbyterian Church has been a long-time friend and supporter of Friendship House. As in previous years, we have formed a team to raise funds for Friendship House in the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community. All the money we raise goes to the programs at Friendship House, programs that serve the homeless in New Castle County, Delaware.

In 2020 we had a virtual walk, but in 2021 we will walk together or virtually, as you feel comfortable. Join us June 5 in Concord's parking lot at 10:00am to walk a 5K course through our Fairfax neighborhood. (A shorter course will also be available.) We hope to recruit our neighbors in Fairfax and Deerhurst to walk with us. Enjoy getting out for a good cause with Friendship House.
We hope you will join our Concord team or donate to support the team or your favorite walker. A generous friend of Friendship House will donate another $1,000 for every team that raises $2,000 and recruits 20 walkers. We hope we are fortunate enough to reach those goals. Please know that each walker and each donation is important. To sign up, visit
Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community – Wilmington.

MUG & MUFFIN
LIVE AND IN PERSON!

Our weekly MUG & MUFFIN gathering will meet in Jessie's Room next Wednesday, May 26, at our usual 10:00am meeting time. You can still connect via Zoom (same info as always, shown below) if you would prefer to join the conversation that way.

  • Bring your iPad, smartphone, laptop - whatever you generally use to connect from home. This will allow those joining via Zoom to see all the other participants.
  • No food or drink will be provided or allowed.

Open Date - Chancel Flowers

Donating the flower arrangement for the front of the sanctuary is a lovely way to honor or remember a family member or commemorate a special occasion. Sunday, May 30 is currently open - please contact Margaret O'Boyle in the Church Office (302/654-9652, margaret.oboyle@concordpc.org) if you are interested. The cost for a standard arrangement is $35 and the dedication will appear in the bulletin, as well as during the live stream of the service.

We hope that soon the Flower Guild will resume scheduling donations on a monthly basis.
Please watch next week's Concord Connects for more information about donating the flowers for a future service.
