Keeping you connected to the life and ministry of

Concord Presbyterian Church!

Sunday, August 29 @ 10:00am
James 1:17-27
Pastor Steve Clark preaching

For this Sunday, READ James 1:17-27 and REFLECT: As you read these words, what ideas or phrases stand out for you? What do you find challenging, and why? What do you find confusing? How do you respond to the writer's idea about "religion that is pure and undefiled" (v. 27; "true religion" in some translations)? What thoughts or feelings to you have about the writer's concern that God's people stay "unstained" or "uncontaminated" by "the world" (v. 27)?
Join us for IN-PERSON WORSHIP on Sunday at 10:00am; doors open at 9:40am. We have developed guidelines for your safety, including social distancing, mask wearing, and collecting contact tracing information. Click here to read a complete list of these guidelines if you plan to attend. For those who are not yet ready or able to attend our service in person, a live-streamed/recorded option is available on our website.
To join us in WORSHIP ONLINE this Sunday, August 29, click on the picture above to go to our Concord website. Near the bottom of the home page, click on the same picture to connect with the worship video. The worship service will be available live at 10:00am Sunday morning or later in the day to view at your convenience.

Join us at Concord SUNDAY EVENING, AUGUST 29, for the final evening prayer service of the summer. The 30-minute service of prayers, scripture, and music begins at 7:00pm on the church lawn near the office entrance. Bring your own chair and plan on social distancing (currently 3 feet). Masks not required but wear one if you prefer.

The Spiritual Formation ministry team will also be offering a "Praying in Color" activity for children and youth during outdoor evening worship (7-7:30pm) at the far end of the parking lot. Please join us!

And after the earthquake … a sound of sheer silence.
Then there came a voice … that said, "What are you doing here?"

(1 Kings 19:12-13)

The scale of the disaster facing Haiti after the Aug. 14 earthquake is now apparent. The quake and its aftershocks have left over 2,200 people dead, 12,000 more injured, and an unknown number of people are still missing. At least 53,000 homes were destroyed and roads, bridges and communication systems have been severely damaged. This catastrophe comes on top of Haiti’s ongoing struggles with endemic hunger and poverty, COVID-19 and continuing civil unrest.
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is providing emergency relief and short-term recovery in the impacted areas through our established local partners and in collaboration with ACT Alliance and its members. The PC(USA), through PDA and together with regional World Mission colleagues, will remain active throughout the entire recovery process, accompanying our partners in the area as they determine long-term program needs and providing financial support for rebuilding and resilience.

To contribute towards PDA's relief work, make your check payable to "Concord Church," memo: "Haiti" and send to the Church Office. Or donate online and include a note or email Ron McKinney with explanation.

Our annual Homecoming Sunday celebration is coming, with some new twists:

  • WORSHIP at 11:00am in the parking lot. (note TIME change--just for that week)
  • FOOD, FELLOWSHIP & FUN for all ages immediately following worship.
  • It’s BYOC&F for everyone: Bring Your Own Chair(s) & Food. As we did last September, we’ll commit to keeping each other safe by not having usual potluck—and by marking off spaces in the parking lot to maintain safe distance.
  • NO LIVESTREAM of worship that day, BUT we will record the service and it will be posted online in the afternoon. We’ll provide info on how/where to access the recording before that Sunday. (We'll resume our usual 10am worship with livestream the following Sunday.)
