Keeping you connected to the life and ministry of

Concord Presbyterian Church!

January 16 @ 10:00am
"Cana Continues" - John 2:1-11
Rev. Kathie S. Pownall preaching

This week’s scripture lesson, found in John 2:1-11, takes place at a village wedding feast, which in Palestine was a really notable occasion. The wedding festivities lasted for more than one day. The newly wed couple was treated like king and queen and, in a life of much poverty and constant hard work, the days of festivity and joy were those of supreme occasion. Jesus gladly came to share in this celebration but was unexpectedly invited to “fix” a serious problem. He brought five unexpected guests with him and the wine was running low. What Jesus did allowed him to first show his glory, and it was there that his disciples caught another dazzling glimpse of what Jesus was.
Join us for IN-PERSON WORSHIP on Sunday at 10:00am; doors open at 9:40am. J.A.M. Update

Due to the surge in Covid cases, J.A.M. will not gather on January 16. (The MLK Service Sunday at the Clothing Bank of Delaware has been rescheduled for Sunday, February 20.) Concord’s Spiritual Formation Team will reconvene to assess the situation after the MLK holiday and will provide an update then.

Thank you for your support!  Stay well and be safe.

COVID-19 Update

As we are all aware, the omicron variant of the coronavirus has thwarted our hopes that the virus was finally behind us. In Delaware, cases are at their highest level of the pandemic, as are hospital admissions. Members of our own congregation as well as our friends and neighbors have become infected. Many of those cases have been in fully vaccinated and boosted individuals. So once more our Session’s COVID Task Force is trying to understand what we should be doing as a congregation to act faithfully over the next few weeks as this variant surges in our region.
We are not suspending in-person worship, but do recommend that each of you consider your own health situation in deciding whether to attend in person or join us in worship through our live-stream offering. If you do attend in person we suggest that, if you haven’t already, you upgrade to a surgical, N95, or KN95 mask. We also remind you that all socialization before or after worship should be done OUTSIDE rather than gathering in small groups within the sanctuary. Gathering in those small groups to chat before or after worship is probably the most likely place where transmission of the virus can occur during our worship experience.
Our choir has taken a temporary pause in rehearsing and participating in worship to eliminate this possible place of transmission.
We hope that this surge will abate as quickly as it has started. We pray for those on the healthcare front lines and in other essential roles.  We pray that you and your loved ones remain safe and, if infected, have a mild case and recover quickly.

at Concord Preschool
opens January 19

We would love for your child to experience kindergarten here at Concord Preschool. Listed below are some of the advantages:

  • Concord kindergarten has been operating a quality program at Concord Preschool for over 60 years.
  • We have always offered a small class size of never more than 15, with lots of individual student attention from our qualified kindergarten teacher and our experienced aide.
  • Because our kindergarten teacher is joined by an assistant, all children, whether advanced and working on challenging studies or needing a little help, may have one-on-one instruction time.
  • We are a certified kindergarten, and your child will be prepared to move onto first grade after completing our program.
  • Our kindergarten hours are from 9:00am-3:00pm, but your child is eligible for FREE childcare whenever we are open (7:15am-5:30pm).
  • Now more than ever, Concord might suit your needs for a smaller group setting where your child is exposed to fewer individuals. And, while we have always used professional cleaners, a small classroom size ensures sanitation according to new COVID guidelines.

Our website at www.concordpreschoolandchildcare.com details the curriculum and activities we offer your child. Please also feel free to share this information with friends and neighbors.
