Baptism of the Lord - January 9 @ 10:00am
"Where Are You Going?" - Mark 1:1-11
Pastor Steve Clark preaching

For this Sunday, READ Mark 1:1-11 and REFLECT: As you read this passage, are there any particular details that stand out for you? This scene is described by all four Gospel writers, but each in their own unique way. Are there details about Jesus' baptism that you remember hearing that aren't in Mark's version? What reason(s) do you imagine Mark might have for excluding those details? If you had to sum up in one sentence Mark's message in this text, what would you say? What implications does that message have for your own life and/or our life as a congregation?
Join us for IN-PERSON WORSHIP on Sunday at 10:00am; doors open at 9:40am. We have developed guidelines for your safety, including social distancing, mask wearing, and collecting contact tracing information. Click here to read a complete list of these guidelines if you plan to attend. For those who are not yet ready or able to attend our service in person, a live-streamed/recorded option is available on our website.

COVID-19 Update

As we are all aware, the omicron variant of the coronavirus has thwarted our hopes that the virus was finally behind us. In Delaware, cases are at their highest level of the pandemic, as are hospital admissions. Members of our own congregation as well as our friends and neighbors have become infected. Many of those cases have been in fully vaccinated and boosted individuals. So once more our Session’s COVID Task Force is trying to understand what we should be doing as a congregation to act faithfully over the next few weeks as this variant surges in our region.
We are not suspending in-person worship, but do recommend that each of you consider your own health situation in deciding whether to attend in person or join us in worship through our live-stream offering. If you do attend in person we suggest that, if you haven’t already, you upgrade to a surgical, N95, or KN95 mask. We also remind you that all socialization before or after worship should be done OUTSIDE rather than gathering in small groups within the sanctuary. Gathering in those small groups to chat before or after worship is probably the most likely place where transmission of the virus can occur during our worship experience.
Our choir has taken a temporary pause in rehearsing and participating in worship to eliminate this possible place of transmission.
We hope that this surge will abate as quickly as it has started. We pray for those on the healthcare front lines and in other essential roles.  We pray that you and your loves ones remain safe and, if infected, have a mild case and recover quickly.

Session COVID Task Force

J.A.M. Update

Due to the surge in Covid cases, J.A.M. will not gather on January 9 and 16 (including MLK Service Sunday at the Clothing Bank of Delaware, which will be rescheduled for a Sunday in February). Concord’s Spiritual Formation Team will reconvene to assess the situation after the MLK holiday and will give an update then.
Thank you for your support!  Stay well and be safe.

Dear Concord family,
And family you are! Thank you for the many cards of sympathy, support and encouragement we received on the passing of my Dad. I definitely felt the love and support with each and every one. My dad was a remarkable man and we are so lucky to have had him in such great health for as long as we did. I’m sure that’s why his passing has left such a void. It is only through the support of others that we have been able to navigate this difficult time. Thank you again for surrounding us with your love.

With much gratitude,
Bonnie Twilley (and Chip)
