Sixth Sunday of Easter - Exodus 14:21-31
May 22 @ 10:00am
Pastor Steve Clark preaching
For this Sunday, READ
Exodus 14:21-31 and REFLECT: This story may be very familiar to you -
either through the Bible or thanks to Cecil B. DeMille and Disney
:-) Familiar or not, in both the Old Testament and New
Testament this story is central to how the people understood who
they were and how they became a people. What message do you see in
the story for your own identity as a member of God’s people?
Join us for IN-PERSON WORSHIP on Sundays
at 10:00am;
doors open at 9:40am. For those who are not yet ready or able to
attend our service in person, a live-streamed/ recorded option is
available on our website. To join us in WORSHIP ONLINE May 22, click on the picture above to go
to our Concord website. Near the bottom of the home page,
click on the same picture to connect with the worship video. The worship service will be available live
at 10:00am Sunday morning or later in the day to view at
your convenience.

YOUTH
MISSION-AT-HOME WEEK
July 11-14
Dear Youth and Parents,
This summer Concord Church is again offering
youth entering grade 6 and up the opportunity to serve our local
community during a Mission-At-Home Week, July 11-14! We
will be volunteering with Friendship House at the Delaware
Clothing Bank, as well as one of their transitional housing
sites. The youth and adult helpers will be sorting clothing
donations and helping with yard work, as well as assisting with a
variety of tasks. (Covid safety protocols are in place at each
site, and we are required to abide by them.) Our friends at
FH are excited to have us back and are looking forward to being
with our group again after such a great experience last summer!
See below for a general schedule of the week:
Monday morning (10am-12:00pm):
Getting to know each other, team building, preparation for the
week, setting our focus and intent on serving God by helping
others
Tuesday -Thursday:
- Morning: Volunteer together at one of the sites
listed above
- Have lunch together (snacks and drinks provided
by Concord Church) and debrief the experience at Concord
Church, a park (such as Bellevue or Talley Day), or a pool
- Afternoon options: enjoy a movie, amenities
at a park or pool, go tubing again??? 😉
On our work days
(Tues-Thurs) we will meet at Concord at 8:30am then drive to our
worksite together. We will volunteer from 9:00am-noon, then
head to our afternoon destination for lunch and activities until
3:00pm.
We will need a commitment from those
interested in participating by Friday, June 10.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may
have. Friends are welcome!
Please RSVP to
Christina at christina.pressley@concordpc.org

Don’t miss this special outdoor Memorial
Day weekend event on Sunday, May 29, 7:00pm in the Concord
Presbyterian Church parking lot.
Join together with your community in honoring those lost to war and
violence, and to contemplate our role in building a more
"peace-full" world. We’ll hear beautiful music, sing and
reflect, and close with a community candle lighting.
Hope to see you there!
Matthew Pressley,
Minister of Music

Tubman Garrett Riverfront Park
Concord Presbyterian Church has
been a long-time friend and supporter of Friendship
House. Building on successful Concord teams in previous
years, we have formed the Concord Trekkers team in support of
Friendship House in the Highmark Walk for a Healthy
Community. All the money we raise goes to the programs at
Friendship House - programs that serve the homeless in New Castle
County.
This year, the walk will return to in-person
on Saturday, June 11th at Tubman Garrett Riverfront Park. It will
be great fun to have thousands of walkers in colorful shirts
walking around the Riverfront in support of their organizations
and our community. Children and friendly dogs on leashes are
welcome, too.
To join the fun please contact John Barineau
at barinejm@yahoo.com, or use the Friendship House HMW home
page: http://hcf.convio.net/friendshiphouse. If you are unable or unavailable to walk
yourself but would still like to support Friendship House
programs, please consider sponsoring one of the Concord Trekkers
- John Barineau, Steve Clark, Judy Hayes, Marj Johnson, Nancy
Tucker, or Barbara Wise - through the Friendship House HMW home
page.
DAY OF WALK DETAILS:
7:45am – Registration opens
8:30am – Opening ceremonies begin
9:00am – Walk begins. The full course
is 5k/ 3 miles, but there are shorter routes for families with
small children.

Baby Shower for Our
Afghan Family
Sunday, June 5 after worship

On Sunday, June 5
after church we will have a little "baby shower"
celebration for our Afghan family. Although our family will not be
with us, it will give us a chance to celebrate their upcoming joy.
Below is a SignUpGenius link that
includes items the family will need. All the items are available at
Target.
We are asking that you click on the check box
on SignUpGenius if you wish to purchase an item
so that we know and others know it is being purchased. You can then
purchase it, and bring it UNWRAPPED to church on or before June 5.
Or you can order it online through the baby registry and have it
delivered to the church.
There are additional items for infants that
might be nice, but we ask that you remember the family's storage
space is very limited. We are, in fact, looking for a small dresser
to use for baby clothes, if anyone has one they would like to
donate.
There will be ongoing needs as this infant
grows. If you wish to donate to a fund to purchase larger clothes
or age-appropriate toys as she grows, please send your donation to
the church with the memo "Baby Shower." We will
then help them purchase things at the appropriate time.

As new COVID variants continue to spread, the CDC assessment of New Castle County
has moved from "Low" to "Medium." That will not
change any of our current protocols at Concord. But for your safety
and those around you, note CDC guidelines for the Medium level:
- If you are at high risk for severe illness, talk to
your healthcare provider about whether you need to wear a mask
and take other precautions
- Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines
- Get tested if you have symptoms
