Keeping you connected to the life and ministry of

Concord Presbyterian Church!

Sunday, July 24 @ 10:00am
"Pushy and Persistent" - Genesis 18:20-33, Luke 11:1-13
Rev. Kathie Pownall preaching

Do you remember childhood prayers? “Now I lay me down to sleep..."  “God is gracious; God is good…” Early memories often are of saying grace or bedtime prayers. What was your experience, if you had any? Do you have a definition of prayer?
This week’s scriptures are both about prayer: Genesis 18:20-33 and Luke 11:1-13. The OT story is about Abraham bargaining with God over an issue he considered very important. Have you ever bargained with God in a prayer, asking for a certain thing to be done and promising some kind of action on your part as thanks? The Gospel story is Jesus’ response to a disciple asking to be taught to pray. Jesus answered him with examples as he usually does. Main point: Pray without ceasing. How does prayer fit into your life?

Join us for IN-PERSON WORSHIP on Sundays at 10:00am; doors open at 9:40am. We have developed guidelines for your safety, including encouraging (but not requiring) mask wearing and social distancing. Click here to read a complete list of these guidelines if you plan to attend. For those who are not yet ready or able to attend our service in person, a live-streamed/ recorded option is available on our website.

The worship service will be available live at 10:00am Sunday morning or later in the day to view at your convenience.

Summer Worship for Children
Children are always welcome in worship here at Concord.
Children's Sermons will continue during the summer, and there will be quiet activities
available in the back of the sanctuary that children may take to the pews during the service.
J.A.M. Session will resume in September.

Vacation Bible School Snack Donations

We are looking forward to resuming VBS next week and creating fun and delicious snacks based on the theme of the day! (Look for photos in next week’s Concord Connects.) If you would like to make a monetary donation toward snacks, please donate online at or make out a check to Concord Church, memo: VBS snacks. Checks can be mailed to Concord or placed in the offering basket on Sunday.

Now that the 2022 General Assembly has ended (June 18-July 9) – the first-ever hybrid assembly – the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) will try to live into the commitments made and the work ahead. Ruth Santana-Grace and Shavon Starling-Louis, the new co-moderators, stood for election using the theme “Unbounded We Thrive,” and the assembly spoke its mind on issues affecting the church and the world.
