Sunday, November 3 @ 10:00am
Communion*, Deacons' Fund
offering
"How to Live"
Pastor Eric Markman
preaching
As we approach the
upcoming national election our worship service will be one of
reconciliation and hope. We will be reading three different
scripture passages across the breadth of the service - each
addressing times of great discontent in earlier days and also the
time that we are in now. We will celebrate communion, which
graphically shows us that not even death can undo God's love. And
we will remember and acknowledge those who have gone before us to
be part of the "Great Cloud of Witnesses". Finally we
will close with "When the Saints Go Marching In!"
Join us for
IN-PERSON WORSHIP on Sunday at 10:00am; doors open at 9:40am.
To
join in WORSHIP ONLINE this Sunday, November 3, click on the picture above to go
to our Concord website. Near the bottom of the home page, click on
the same picture to connect with the worship video. The worship
service will be available live at 10:00am Sunday morning or later
in the day to view at your convenience.
*This Sunday we will
celebrate the Lord's Supper as part of the service.
If joining us online, please have something ready for
eating and something ready for drinking.

Children
in Worship - Communion Sunday
This week is a Communion Sunday, so we will not be
meeting for "Navigating the Bible." Children are
invited to come forward for Wondering Time. After Wondering Time, children will stay in worship with their families and
take part in communion after the sermon. There are quiet
activities in the back of the Sanctuary that children may take to
the pews.

"Our God is an amazing Weaver who brings
together all the aspects of our lives in a beautiful tapestry of
wholeness. ~ Pastor
Eric
Dear Friends and Faithful Stewards of Concord Presbyterian Church,
Like a master weaver at work, God intertwines the many threads of
our ministry into a magnificent tapestry of faith at Concord
Presbyterian. Each thread – each act of service, each hymn sung,
each prayer offered – contributes to the greater picture of our
church's mission.
The rich pattern of our church life at Concord reveals itself in
many ways: in the golden threads of joyful worship and uplifting
music; in the sturdy fibers of youth ministry and education; in the
warm colors of fellowship and mutual support; and in the
outreaching patterns of community service and global mission.
Together, these elements create a tapestry that tells the story of
our faithful community.
As we witness this living tapestry of faith at Concord
Presbyterian, we invite you to strengthen its fabric through your
gifts of time, talent, and financial resources. Your generosity
ensures that each vital thread remains strong and vibrant. While
our Pastoral Nominating Committee continues its important work to
seek the individual who God is calling to join us, your support
helps us weave the bright future for our church family.
Using the enclosed pledge card, we welcome your pledges sent by
mail. However, if possible, we encourage you to take advantage of
the online tools for giving that are available on the Concord
Presbyterian website. Go to https://concordpc.org/give/pledge
and complete an online pledge form or click on the “Financial
Resources” button to complete an auto-debit authorization form.
That form can be emailed to Alan Jewett (Financial Secretary) or
mailed to the church office.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude for your consistent and generous
financial support. As we move forward, we ask that you prayerfully
and thoughtfully consider how your financial pledge helps
strengthen the fabric of Concord Presbyterian Church for 2025. We
will dedicate our pledges during worship on Sunday, November 17.
With gratitude for your generosity,
The Finance &
Stewardship Committee

Guatemala
Literacy Program
The Mission Committee of
Concord’s Session has begun an involvement with the New Castle
Presbytery’s Guatemala Partnership. We hosted a dinner Wed. night
for about 30 people to hear what CEDEPCA is currently doing in
Guatemala and ways we might help.
In addition, at the request of the
Association of Mam Christian Women, we committed to fund a new
literacy project for 15 students for 10 months in a remote, poor
village in an area of Guatemala difficult to access. A
description of this program is below. The cost of this project is
$2,700.00 which covers teachers, teaching supplies, and student
supplies. We strongly believe that education and the
ability to read is essential to further economic development for
these women.
We hope you will join in our
excitement about this project and will contribute financially to
help cover the cost. Checks can be written to Concord Church with
Guatemala Literacy Program in the memo, or you can Zelle the
money to the church with the same designation in the memo. Thank
you in advance for your generosity.
Marj
Johnson,
Mission & Congregational Life Committee
Program Description:
Education is one of the most effective
ways to reduce poverty, improve health, and achieve gender
equality, peace and stability. Therefore, the Association sees
the need for the minimum preparation of women in the village of
Las Barrancas, located in a remote area of the Western Highlands
of Guatemala.
These women did not have opportunities
to access education from childhood, however, they are currently
interested in learning to read, write and speak the Spanish
language. (Their first language is Mam, one of 23 indigenous
languages spoken in Guatemala). The objective of this project is
to contribute to the education of Guatemalans, using literacy as
a way to highlight the education of older people who were unable
to study a degree due to poverty, distance and other reasons. The
government just began a literacy program for youth in this
village but there is not enough funding to include the women. So
the Association wants to be sure they also have this opportunity
to learn.
These literacy classes will be offered
three days a week for half a day. The program will run for 10
months and include 15 students. The teacher/facilitator will be
from Las Barrancas, so this project will provide income for her
too. If they are able, students will be asked to pay a modest
amount toward their supply cost, so they are invested in the
course. However, no one will be turned away due to lack of funds.
