Keeping you connected to the life and ministry of

Concord Presbyterian Church!

Note from Pastor Julia

Friends in Christ,

I had a glorious time out in Little Rock at a conference for early-career clergy. We learned, we laughed, we prayed, but most of all we gathered together in fellowship and friendship. This is my second year of a conference with this same group, and these individuals truly give me so much life. These friendships are what sustain ministry, so I am grateful for the time together.

This coming Sunday is a big one! It is Thanksgiving and Stewardship Sunday. We will be talking about Isaiah and his call to a new heaven and a new earth. This is what we do together every day: live into God's kindom in the here and now as we work together for justice in God's name. That call to work in the world is what we do as a church as we create a new world where God's love is at the center.

This Sunday, during our last hymn, I will invite all of us to come forward and put our pledges in a basket on the table. This is a time where we can celebrate the work that we have done together and commit to that same covenant for the year to come. Thank you all for your prayerful discernment of your pledges.

Blessings,
Pastor Julia

Hark! Help Needed for Christmas Decorating!
It’s time to get creative and deck the halls again! Please join us to help dress up the Sanctuary for the Christmas season. We’ll be gathering at 9:00am on Friday, December 5 to work some magic and would love to have helping hands, even if you can only spare an hour. Gardening gloves and clippers are suggested but not necessary. Please contact Dottie Harding (302) 584-3852 or Carol Schlegel (302) 757-5215 if you have any questions.

Yew, magnolia, cedar, holly, ivy, juniper, winterberry, and nandina are all good candidates and would be much appreciated! The more, the better! Christmas Gala Reception -  Cookie Bakers Needed!

After the Christmas Gala Concert, there is a reception in Fellowship Hall featuring homemade Christmas cookies. We need anyone who can to help us bake. There are two nights this year, so that's a lot of cookies! If you can help, please let Dottie Lund know: dottielund@comcast.net, 302-230-1533 or sign up at church on the clipboard on the Gathering Time coffee table. We will also need five pound cakes for each night and monetary donations for the punch ingredients. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Our beloved Margaret O’Boyle will be retiring no later than the end of this year. While this is a huge loss for us, our hope is to hire someone as soon as possible to work with Margaret for some on-the-job-training while she is still here. We are looking for someone with strong organizational, communication and computer skills, as well as the ability to work flexibly and with compassion. You will find the job description and requirements here. Interested? Contact Marj Johnson at sr@concordpc.org.

Volunteer Opportunity

Friendship House has resumed a hot Sunday breakfast program for the homeless. Each Sunday they will be serving a hot quiche breakfast at the Episcopal Church of Saints Andrew & Matthew, 719 North Shipley St., downtown Wilmington.
Volunteers are needed for two hours on Friday mornings to make vegetable and protein quiches. They have a chef to give instructions, and you can also donate the cheese, vegetables, and meat to be used in the quiche.
There are two volunteer shifts for prep and serving on Sunday morning, one early and one later. If you work the early shift, you can be back in time for our church service.
If you would like to sign up for Nov 23
or Nov 30, click on the links. If you wish join the volunteer list and receive texts of what they need and when, contact Volunteer Coordinator Jayla Hill at jayla.hill@friendshiphousede.org. This is an ongoing program each Sunday morning and you can volunteer whenever you are available or would like to donate food.

Hello friends,

Our November program is a tapestry of voices and stories — and today we want to give you a sneak peek into a few of the works you’ll hear:

“Meet Me Here” (Craig Hella Johnson) – from Considering Matthew Shepard, this piece is a gentle call to compassion, community, and healing.

“Sing Gently” (Eric Whitacre) – composed during the pandemic, it’s a reminder of the power of music to connect us even in times of distance.

“Autumn Leaves” (Joseph Kosma / arr. Deke Sharon) – a timeless melody, reimagined with rich harmonies, capturing the bittersweet beauty of the season.

This is just the beginning! From Broadway to brand-new choral works, this concert has something for everyone.

🎟️ Buy your tickets now for Friday, November 21 at 7 PM!

We can't wait to see you.

In harmony,
CoroAllegro
